Part Nine. This week sees Wax:On’s very own People Get Real aka Simon and Peter picking their five songs. Here’s what they have to say about their choices:

The idea of the People Get Real mix for the Wax:On compilation was a retrospective of the last five years worth of warm-up’s at the club. These are just a few of the tracks we couldn’t get onto the mix but deserve an honourable mention in shaping the sound of our sets over the last 5 years:

Konrad Black – Draconia

A very dark hypnotic track where the room is plunged into darkness and the smoke machine chokes you. We reckon this is the sort of thing Ivan Smagghe would have as elevator music up to his loft condo.

Le Dust Sucker – Love Me

This is all about the bassline and the textures that build throughout the track. A pretty simple idea but done very very well!

Supermayer -  Two of Us

This in our opinion was the biggest track off Supermayer’s excellent ‘Save the World’ album. This just builds and builds until a huge breakdown where the glockenspiel (yes glockenspiel) comes in for full effect. Loads of atmospheric whooshes and one off hits carry this track along.

Mocky – Mickey Mouse Muthafuckas (Tiefschwarz mix)

We absolutely love this track, but unfortunately couldn’t get this licenced. Amazing bassline and Mocky’s lyrics generally hype the crowd up nicely.

Gino Soccio – Dancer

Straight up disco action, never ever fails on the dancefloor. This has been a get out of jail card for us for the last 5yrs at Wax:On.

Wax:On Compilation Vol1 mixed by Fake Blood and People Get Real is available at HMV and Beatport, and the MagicBag Sampler EP1 featuring People Get Real’s ‘Robin Hood’ original and Jamie Jones mix is out now on Beatport and Juno. Plus coming out later this month is People Get Real’s ‘Revolver’ on Live-In Music with remixes by The Eskimo Twins and Woman in Panic.
