Saw a poster for this the other day and I'll most likely be attending, it's the first half decent band they've had on in ages. Last year they had To My Boy, Pete & The Pirates, Kubichek! Good Shoes and Dead Disco (not forgetting the Antarctic Monkeys - no, you did read that right, although to be fair that wasn't a Club Strut night) who were all pretty good but this year's line-ups haven't been great so far, although I did miss Robots In Diguise as I was in Leeds that weekend.
Any out-of-towners thinking of coming along I should warn you it's not the most amazing club night around, fairly standard indie fayre generally, and very light on electro, etc. They do steer clear of the more obvious, beer-boy indie, i.e. Oasis, Kasabian, et al, and occassionally throw in the odd gem but when I've made (fairly watered-down) requests in the past (Boys Noize mix of Kaisers, Phones mix of Banquet, etc.) they've never had them. I know they're there to play their own selections, and requests can be annoying, but when they claim: "...sassy DJ duo The High Kicks playing edgy punk, electro, 60s pop, new wave & scratchy indie!", I would hope that they might actually have some electro of some sort in their boxes! Plus, The High Kicks are half of We Start Fires who've played on the same bill as Erol at Plug so they should have a vague idea about electro, etc.?!
Anyway, rant over, should be a decent night for The Whip alone, and shouldn't really grumble at a fiver door tax.
Any further details on MSTRKRFT anyone by the way?
EDIT: I'm sure I also heard something about Erol returning to the Empire in April somewhere, the 4th I think? Can't remember when or where I heard this, or have I made this up?! Anyone heard similarly?

Fair enough then, pleasantly surprised to hear that I'm not alone on here! Thought there might be another few lurking about, probably posting more often than I do actually! On a few occasions when I've had my Erol tee on at a pub or club in town there's been a handful of people who've acknowledged knowing what the e.r.o.l. means / is and asked when I last saw him, etc. Then again though, most people ask "what's eee-rol?", tried to explain it a couple of times at first but don't bother any more!
As an aside, I just noticed on the mixmag site (forgive me, I've genuinely never been on it but that Busy P/Mehdi/Feadz CD mentioned made me curious to see when it came out!) that The Whip are doing two tours simultaneously, one 'rave' and one 'rock', Darlo's the first date of the rave ones - very odd choice!!

It's not been that long since we last had him up here but I missed the Wax On date so definately not losing out this time!
Any idea how soon tickets might be available? Seem to remember them still having some on the door last time he played Boro as a mate of mine made a last minute trip through on the last train from Darlo and managed to get in hassle-free, however I want to secure my place there as early as possible!!
