I can exclusivly reveal that the special guests for hallow'een are Dracula and The Wolfman!! For no other reason than to solve that question old as time, "Who'd win in a fight between Dracula and Wolfman!"

We had it right off last night in Sunderland. Matt was quality. Little events like these are way more enjoyable than the big ones right now
Apparently Detroit Social Club in the main room were poor.
Looking forward even mkore to our next one, Saturday August 30th at Independent nightclub Sunderland
North East nights - Le_Coop - 2008-07-27 23:30:29

Geoff Leopard Wrote:Glad to hear it went well.Aye totally. Its weird how that place fills up late on. Most folk still dont really know too much about it yet but gets a lot of indie folk in there it seems as they prob see it like a bit of a regular spot with so many GI gigs there.
Def. a favourite spot along with the red rooms and cosmic ballroom

I'm doing the mainroom at nice this week, with Micky Hell and Jez Fry (SlothControl- Calcutta Resident) who I've never played with before but I've heard is worth checking out (hence... I've booked him).
Last 2 weeks have been RAMMED downstairs with the club at capacity.
If you've not been before, the absolute parsity of events this weekend provides the best excuse to check it out.

Nice basically just has the best of newcastles residents from other nights playing there on a rotation.
It's been going for 14 years now due to the fact that it has no set musical style.
Downstairs we'll basically move from chuggers to bangers over the course of the night.
All good shit.
Upstairs is mental, rammed to to the rafters
There's normally more beautiful women than you can shake a shitty stick at and the music policy is non existant.
Last time i played up there i managed to play Derrik May, Kool and the Gang, Hot Chip, Prince, DJ Shadow, Earth Wind and Fire, wu tang, 808 state and buraka som sitema all in the same night.
Foss and Graham are absolute legends, they play everything from proper jungle, to the Minder theme music.
If you've never been, then you seriously should check it out.

If you let me know on saturday, I'll stick you and your mates on the cheap entry list (that goes for anyone on the board who hasn't been)

First up, here's DUKE DUMONTs live set from "Europeans Do It Better" in Hamburg, recorded this summer...
1) Synth Intro w/Deadset- Keep Quiet
2) John Tejada & Justin Maxwell- Higher
3) Michal Ho- Screw the Coffeemaker
4) Elite Force- Used & Abused (Zodiac Cartel Remix)
5) Workidz- Work It
6) Deepgroove & Jaime Anderson- D-Con (Duke Dumont-Live From Brooklyn Remix)
7) Modeselektor -Black Block
Audion- Just Fucking (Roman Flugel-23 Position In A 1 Night Stand Remix)
9) Marc Houle- Techno Vocals
10) Duke Dumont- Lean & Bounce
11) Solid Groove- This Is Sick (Duke Dumont “Synth & Bounce” Edit)
12) Elite Force- You (Perc Dub)
13) Len Faki- My Black Sheep (Radio Slave Remix)
14) Cabo San Roque- Calypso 08 (Luciano Remix)
15) Modeselektor- The First Rebirth
16) Mr Oizo- 144
It's a unique blend of techno/electro/fidget sounds with some crazy sub bass moments that manages to be a lot more than the sum of it's parts, i'd strongly recommend for everyone to give it a try.
The Duke's "Dominion Dubs EP" has Finally dropped and it's recieving rave reviews from pretty much everyone due to it's wholey uncategorisable nature.
You can check out some tracks here http://www.myspace.com/dukedumont.
Secondly, here's a further mix from MARK E recorded for the "Cosmic Disco" blog.
1) Viola Wills - Dare to Dream
2) Gillespie - Oblique
3) Mark E vs Dargon -
4) Omar S -
5) Y2thaz -
6) Hamilton Bahannon - South African Man
7) Jesse Rose - Nice and Slow
Mark E vs Dragon - Target
9) Thelma Houston - You used to hold me
There's such a wealth of MARK E mixes available online showcasing the breadth and scale that he plays to, that none of them are fully representative of what he's capable of live, but they're still all awesome.
He's an absolutely amazing Dj, but if you've heard of him then we're guessing you knew that already.
Friday the 29th is shaping up to be shit hot
See you all at the Cosmic.
