North East nights - MegaDebt - 2009-04-22 15:07:37 'Those That Know' - Firecracker Records Party with Linkwood. Seen Terrace, Darlington. Sunday. May 3rd. 2 P.M. till 2 A.M. ITS HERE AGAIN. THOSE THAT KNOW PARTY ALL DAY EVENT. FREE ENTRY!!!! After 3 years of success bringing you Moodymann, Omar S, Maurice Fulton, Domu, Benji B, Rahaan, Andres, etc etc Those That Know are happy to invite the man behind Firecracker records, Lindsay Todd. Founder and owner of Firecracker Records, Lindsay Todd began his dj career in 1994. Playing in house clubs all over Edinburgh, he quickly found a love for playing his choice of music to the discerning ears of the public. However, it was at the now legendary and defunct Edinburgh nights Tribal Funktion and Higher Ground that Lindsay began to cut his teeth amongst the finest dj’s from the worldwide house and techno scene such as Cajmere, Derrick Carter and Gemini. He has gained huge respect over the years and a reputation for being not only a great dj but also has the rare talent of finding the right track for the right moment. He toured worldwide with Joseph Malik on the back of Malik’s hugely successful first LP on Compost records again to great acclaim. It was soon after in 2004 that Lindsay had the idea to set up his own label with the emphasis as much upon the artwork and overall presentation of the records as it was the quality of the music. Harking back to the 'golden era' of house music and with a huge nod to the Detroit and Chicago scene, Firecracker has firmly established itself amongst its peers as one of most talked about and respected underground labels out there with fans as diverse as Derrick May and Moodymann to Lindstrom and the Idjut Boys. The OG first 10" EP is now highly sought after and the label's later releases have also quickly become collectors' items. In the coming months he is set to release EP4, Intrusion Dubs of 'Miles Away', an EP by new Ukrainian artist Vakula, a further Linkwood & House Of Traps 12" and a retrospective CD lp. As well as being the owner of Firecracker Recordings he is also the art director of the label, records and DJs as House Of Traps and one half of Linkwood Family. You can regularly hear him drop anything from rare psych and rock to classic reggae but he specialises in playing the finest in house, disco, techno and boogie and of course, the newest sounds from the growing Firecracker roster! Anyone who's been to theese party's down at Durham Uni will know how amazing they are. Small venues, good people, standouts have been Maurice Fulton, Moodymann and last month Domu who blew the lid off the place. There's loads of other stuff on through the day and as well as that, the chaps from Fat Dog Records and my good self will be playing some LEATHAL tunes down there in the evening innit. And it's all for FREE!!!!! There's an interview with the lads on RA and a cracking podcast to download if you like your shit a little bit deeper in the groove. LINK TO R.A.
