I can't work out if this article is a joke or not " a wild card panelist in Jamie Jones a up and coming Welsh producer who was voted Essex’s No 1 Minimal Dj in the summer of 2011" "Im a huge fan of House music so ill be making sure the uber cool Ibizan music of underground stars such as David Guetta will get as much a showcase as Hip Hop and Rock." "We will do for Dance music what Saturday Night Fever did for Disco." "Its thought ‘ Mentors ‘ will include American Hip Hop star Frankie Nuckles" "how to get that all important stage presence that’s needed to be a rock Star style Super Star DJ . “If you thought it was just about pressing a computer button your so wrong and in for the ride of your life.” |

I'm also having my doubts following that article, however it could just be poor journalism.
If it is a hoax, then it's done a pretty good job of fooling people, as well as giving DJs a chance to show the world how seriously they take themselves; to an extent not seen since DJ Hero had the AUDACITY to cheapen the noble calling by releasing a video game about it. |

"My first gig was in Halifax, all i had was a picnic table, a handful of my own productions, and an ugly ass mouse head that only cost me $500 to make."
it is surprising. He must'ave been paid a fair amount for his first gig to be able to just splash $500 on a mouse head...unless he's referring to his first big gig. I should imagine the most recent led one has to have cost a few thousand. |

Deadmau5's logic seems very skewed. He's suggesting that with a programme like this, underdogs and promising new creative talent will get a chance to show their stuff to the world where once they couldn't. If you were to follow the same line of reasoning, then shows like American Idol and Britain's Got Talent would be full of interesting musicians or performers pushing the boundaries of what's considered conventional/mainstream. The reality, of course, is the complete opposite: these programmes are awash with safe, well-known songs sung by people who producers know will generate huge amounts of viewers. So you can watch it and enjoy or whatever, but I don't think you can kid yourself and justify this show by saying it'll give opportunities to creative producers/DJs because I'm pretty sure that's the last thing on Syco's mind.
The thing I don't understand about this is how they'll create those characters like they do in these other programmes. Susan Boyle, for example: people making all these judgements about her based on appearance, and then she starts singing opera and the audience start crying and so on. It's complete manipulation based on impressions and expectations, and it works. But what's going to be the equivalent for a DJ? Aristotle was not Belgian, the central message of Buddhism is not "every man for himself", and the London Underground is not a political movement. |

Have a DJ come on who looks like Babar, who everyone will expect to play bangers, but then only plays music without drops. Agreed. I'm not a fan of deadmau5' music but he is talented and seems like a reasonable guy etc. however most of his fan base are just know nothing follow the hype idiots. The kind of people that would watch the show. I suppose that's maybe why he's siding with the idea. Like Evangelink said and you can see on the comments: "Deadmaus chips in. His fans agree with him." If this show wasn't gona have any viewers, it will now. |
