Just got a spanking new Macbook and i'm fiddling around with it but it still feels like i'm missing something. Can anyone recommend me a couple of must-have apps?

Not Ableton, Logic etc etc but handy apps that would make my transition from Windows to OSX a bit more smooth.

Cheers

Everyone is pretty much different with what apps they want and need but i have a standard sort of list of apps i install on every new mac I use or set up for a mate inc:

Cyberduck (free ftp app)
VLC player (for playing any movie type)
Last Fm (for scrobbling my tracks)
Realpayer
Flipformac (plug in that lets you play wmv/streams online)
Skype
Zattoo (the daddy of free tv players/streaming tv and legal)
Stuffit Expander (like winzip)
Google Earth
Mercury Messenger or Amsn (because with normal MSN you cant use your cam/mic on a mac)

I'm with you Data...finding the transition from PC to Mac slightly overhwelming. Basic things like how to open multiple instances of programs (i.e. Firefox) are proving troublesome!

Of course, but there are some situations where I require 2 windows open at the same time (and yes, I realise you can choose to open a new window :P). I just haven't found an easy way to open multiple instances of a program

use safari, you can add tabs, pull them apart and just drag pages onto the tabs, really fluid!

@Datanoir:

Try to get used to key command shortcuts. They are mostly the same over all mac applications and really help you out a lot. The list which was posted above was already more or less complete. Once you got it, you will never go back!
