I'm sure I'm not the first person to say this on here, but I didn't find another thread so I thought I'd make one myself.
I just finished watching The Wire recently, and it is just so unbelievably good. It beats anything I've either seen before it (though I haven't seen all of The Sopranos). The characters, the storylines, the dialogue, the show's humour, absolutely everything is spot on. A lot people said that the last season wasn't as good as the rest, but even so, it's miles better than anything else around. This is definitely going to be studied soon enough.
Favourite character is probably Detective 'Bunk' Moreland, although there's so many to choose from it's too hard not to change your mind all the time.

To see David Simon? What was he doing, giving a talk or a special interview or something?

He was showing clips from the show, talking about it and then holding a Q&A afterwards. Heard it was pretty good, but the tickets had sold out by the time i went to buy some!

an irish blog ran a competition to win tickets to beach house play the other day, since the band are from baltimore the question was to say who your favourite wire character was and why. some good reads in there, but i have only glanced at it since i haven't yet started season 5... i think cutty is my favourite, with beadie and ziggy competing for least favourite. season 4 made me really like prez too.

Would have loved to have seen that. That interview he gave for the Culture Show was great.

Lauren Laverne: What about the casual viewer?
David Simon: Fuck the casual viewer!

Too right, David. Too right.

Just finished season three. The Wire has single handedly deleted my Sopranos vocabulary.

Bunk & Omar, clear faves.

WORD?! (I'm that excited I've slipped into late 80's Hip-Hop vernacular for the next 24 hours!)
