With the vast amount of money i've gotten for Christmas (about £120), I'm looking to get a good pair of headphones. I’m not sure weather to compromise on quality on get some wesc Ed Bangers or to go for something with a better sound like some sienhiessers. Any thoughts? Recommendations??

Go for sound quality, its more important. Makes for more enjoyable listening as well. Some suggestions:

Real questions are.....

What other music do you listen to?
What's your source?
Are they for home use/ portable/ DJ?

Im gonna mostly listen to electro nonsense and that like.
Then gonna be portable for my new ipod touch. But i dont mind over ears as long as they dont look stupid.

Considering your circumstances, I'd say HD25's are your best bet ;)

If you're finding you can't get enough power into them, think about adding an amp like a Fiio ( http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/FiiO-E3-Earphone-B...240%3A1318 ) or whatever. They're pretty cheap, but they'll get the job done if you don't want to invest more than £100 in one :)

out of interest there are about 10 different variations of the hd25mk11 on amazon, ranging from 100 quid to something like 300 quid, whats the difference? i was just gonna go for the ones i linked above, just for home listening and some djing, they the best option?

I bought AKG k518DJ about half a year ago, and can't say I regret. They're well cheap, has good sound, and are flexible.. Good for both DJing and Ipod use

I completely agree, I use the K81DJ's (the earlier model, exact same, different colours) all the time. They're pure class for electronic stuff plus pretty easy to drive. Definitely one of my bargains of the year.

BTW Patriark, have you tried pulling out the foam inserts? Makes a really good change to the SQ, tames the bass a bit more. :)

I think new ones have a large headphone jack, although mine originally had a small one.

I haven't, and as they press quite hard on my ears I don't think I dare :O
I feed my hi fidelity hunger with my living room sound system though, so I'll manage

Those Ed Banger cans are hideous.

If you just want it for an ipod then get the in-ear Sennheisers that retail at about 30 quid.

I can't emphasise this enough - check out Grado Lab for some quality sound for a very decent price.

I've got the SR80's, love them to pieces, only problem is they might not be the best for portability being open.

However, I completely agree, anyone going for Home phones, check out the Grado or Alessandro lines. SERIOUSLY nice phones :D
