Never really got into business, more of a hobby.

Thats not good for London, its £150 standard day rate here in Manchester!

I found you could only earn max 35/38k here in Manchester as a senior so
decided to use my own contacts and go alone using a pool of other designers/photographers/copy writers etc for projects, photographers charge around £500 for half a day, £1200 for a full day so there's an industry to get into if your shit hot!

When I did start in this Industry 8 years ago i earn't 10k in a year! I could earn that in 2 months now with the work I've got and thats not even making much compared to other designers out there

I've just got a place studying it at Nottingham Trent next year

After doing a load of research, the course I got onto has pretty much the best employment rate afterwards so I'm pretty keen.

Don't look forward to trying to get a job afterwards though..

pretty cool that you did work for Urban Splash. i remember my lecturer at uni used to get a hard-on everytime he spoke about them..... used to go on about how they've been the pioneers of urban design and regeneration in the UK over the past decade.

Which Uni was that mate? Yeah it was good being a senior there and working client side with some amazing design agencies, photographers and architects

That all went to shit when the credit crunch hit though! 6 designers went, only 1 remains but what a ride we had ha ha!

Glasgow Caledonian. (fake uni! haha) Did a course on urban design while there, found it pretty interesting, shame the jobs are getting shedded left, right and centre! I tell you what, Glasgow's waterfront could do with hiring Urban Splash. Some shambolic creations have been built over the last 5 years. Though they managed to reel in Zaha Hadid for the new Transport Museum, which is a bit of a coup! Looking pretty good so far:

Dude, I like to think of myself as a person with great taste in modern design and I am pretty impressed by your portfolio! Didn't know you did the BTWS flyer. Sick work!
thankyou, but i can't take all the credit. the initial owl/3rd mynd design was created by someone else (for the btws street posters). i loved that design anyway...wanted a t shirt of it! i was given the individual parts (owl photo/3rd mynd logo) to use for this poster. trickiest part was changing 3rd mynd to 3rd may which was erol's idea. that was just a case of doing some vector alterations in illustrator til it looked right.

but yes, i'm happy with the finished result!..and really looking forward to the event itself :)

I worked on quite a few projects in Glasgow actually with US bidding for the old cattle markets there, they didn't win though! One i did win when i worked at ISArchitects was the Jumeriah tower in Glasgow and the visuals are up on the site I did for them: http://www.iansimpsonarchitects.com

US are trying to move into Scotland, I was part of the team who won the bid for Irvine Bay which looks amazing but yeah I know what you mean about Glasgow, concrete jungle and that but yeah anything touched by Zaha will be stunning, love her work!

Funny you should mention the Jumeriah. A family friend has actually been working on it over the past few weeks. Should be pretty spectacular once it's done!

Nice CGIs there as well!
