Anybody care to share some slow, heavy, and grinding techno? Kinda like:

I realized yesterday when listening to Modeselektor that I only had so few songs.
And because you can only listen to so much 128 bpm Popof / Style of Eye before going loco.

i was going to put it in track ids but i found an andrew weatherall mix fromlast month which is pretty slow and dirty. only track i recognise is the chicken lips dub of bell x1's flame, and there's a remix of ladyhawke's back of the van, not sure whose though. lovely mix.

Not exactly grinding, but often quite slow variants of techno is James Holden's productions.

I highly recommend the artist Mimosa, which draws on influences from idm, dubstep and techno and compiles it in quite low bpm, but very cool tunes. Also Tom Burbank is low bpm, and a bit hip hop influenced but still quite techno-ish. Kraddy should also do the trick.

And this gem:
my be in the vein you're after.

Plus: "Rekid - Next stop Chicago" - brilliant 111bpm techno/cosmic disco/electro thingy

Maybe stuff like
MOUSE ON MARS // Mine Is In Yours
MIRWAIS // Disco Science
JAMES T COTTON // TYOC Painkillers (2AM/FM Remix)
GAK // Gak 2
THE BLACK DOG // Tahr
ARPANET // Devoid Of Wires
ETIENNE DE CRECY // Relax
ZOMBIE NATION // Don't Touch

And some things teetering on the edge of industrial like LFO // Tied Up or NIN // Closer.

All the stuff posted, they all come close but they quite aren't there yet.
'Tahr' was probably the closest, but the rest of them just seem to lack or have one bit more that would have otherwise made the track perfect. 'Devoid of Wire' needs a heavier bassline, 'Beach Kisses' needs to lose its trumpet + lower BPM...

When I think of the Apparat tune, I imagine pitch black, basement parties, something with this feel:
comes to mind (at -8 or something).

I smell a niche.

Yes, Holden!
Heard his Darkest Star remix, but nothing else. I'll check him out.

Babicz is pretty straight forward 125-128 bpm minimal techno I reckon. Great producer though.

I hope you've heard "Modeselektor - Suckerpin" - because that is a 115 bpm techno monster. Badass track, gritty as fawk and has the most ridiculous sub bass action (you need pretty damn big speakers to hear.. erhm.. FEEL it)

Wouldn't call it techno, but In Flagranti's 'Meat packing' mix of Woolfy is mid tempo and bassy/dirty as fook.

Thanks for all the suggestions, but while they're all awesome tracks. They still aren't exactly the sound I was looking for.

Anyhow, I poked around Warp Records and found this:

That's the kind of the sound I'm looking for (more tech, less hip hop though).
As much as this forum hates using the word filth to describe music, I really think that no other word is more apt to describe that bass line. I guess to be more specific just a bass heavy track that's around 100-115 bpms THAT isn't Dubstep! It's got to have at least a 4/4 or 2/4 kick, you know...

Yeah, was going through his Beatport page yesterday, they're a pretty eclectic pair of musicians. Check out Black Block, it's not as low bpm but it brings the bass to the floor!

Did you ever check out Mimosa? I'm pretty sure that's exactly the thing you're looking for...

Hehe, tell me about it. I've spent most of 2008 listening to Modeselektor. Came to the point that I found out that actually every single production and remix they've released is really damn good :O

But I'm still pretty sure the mini-album "Mimosa - Hostilis" will be pretty much exactly what you're looking for. Unfortunately nobody has upped anything to youtube or stuff like that, but you can listen to some previews here

Have you checked the first Laid release by Rick Wade, it's Dial's new sublabel. Picked it up on Monday, it's quality.

That wasn't aimed at you, never fear. Plus it was wholly facetious, this thread is summing up pretty much most of the stuff i'm into at the moment, some good recommendations too.

Yeah I wasn't too sore about it ;)
What I really wanted to hear though, were some recommendations from you as I gather you have some insight into this sort of stuff
