DJ Simon Morrell originally from Leeds of Deep Down and Dirty fame moved to London about 2 years ago now, with the DDD team to help promote the event in London with great success. Nowadays he can be found playing at some of the capitals best underground parties. His style encompasses old school Chicago and Detroit influences combined with the latest underground house and techno, a tasteful mix that keeps the floor pumping with smiles all round Sat 6th Bad Passion project present ' Mandala with Rick Hopkins (Dream Machine) Mandala Residents Bad Passion Project's Dan Mitchell, Andy Bainbridge and Chris Stoker and special guest Rick Hopkins for this month’s instalment of MANDALA we are pleased to have with usFor our next monthly shakedown in the home basement we have Gawk Foundations Rick Hopkins joining us. DJ, Record collector and overall nice guy, Rick first established himself in 1995 when he became the 1st bedroom bedlam DJ for the now defunct Music Magazine. Championed by the likes of Andrew Weather all he has since made his name playing alongside such names as Richie Hawtin, Joey Beltram, Jeff Mills, Kevin Saunderson, Two Lone Swordsmen, Radioactive Man, Tom Middleton, Ashley Beedle, I-F, Daniel Wang, Tako and a whole host of other luminaries from the dance arena at some of his many residencies. Ricks style of mixing has developed since the 1980's when he was a young hip hop dj who fell into the acid house boom by accident but a love of all things, deep, weird, electronic, filthy and phunky has always been prevalent.You can also catch Rick at his own monthly bash, Dream Machine alongside Jonny 5 and Meschi playing futuristic techno, acid house, deep disco, mutant synth jams, italo tearjerkers and beyond
