football would be a better place if they could spare 20 mil and throw it our way, 80 mil is insane.

despite hsi histrionics, you can't deny that at times he was a joy to watch. and provided great entertainment. it's a loss to the league really...

with 80 mil surely united could develop + build a time machine, go back to 1995, get cantona, come back, give him the armband, sorted.

did you see him on johnathon ross? he usually says nothing about returning to football, but he seemed to hint that perhaps he might come back. it made me very excited.

i went to his testimonial match at old trafford, was rather incredible

cantona has been saying for ages he wants to manage united after fergie but could go all tits up like shearer. tarnish the legend. but at least he has some managerial experience in beach football. and could inspire the players. which shearer evidently can't.

to be fair to shearer, i'm not sure Ferguson or Capello could inspire such a sorry bunch of players

Yeah, Newcastle were a complete state this season. Poor buys and Michael Owen will find his place in the championship.

Real are building quite a forward line, but I can't help thinking that its defenders they really need. If they also get Villa, then thats possibly the best front 3 in the world, even over Barca given the ages of Henry and Eto'o.

One thing worth bearing in mind while everyone slacks their jaws at the £ transfer fee - in Euros it doesn't seem as silly comparatively. The collapse of sterling means that in pounds transfers look a lot, while in Euros they aren't that far removed from other big transfers.

But if they did that then, he would never have been the catalyst to win the Premier league for them back in the mid 90s, Fergie would have been sacked, they'd never have won the treble in 99, sold a lot less shirts and would never have been able to get Ronaldo in the first place let alone make him good enough to cash in and make the 80 million...

its still something like 95m Euros, which is a staggering amount of money for an individual.

thats the way the game's gone i guess.

The question begs, who wrote Johnny B. Goode...?
