Disclosure are kinda improving.
They still sound like a Joy Orbison ripoff but the production values are coming on. It's all kinda dated and a bit 09 when that sound just came about but, they're young'uns and finding their feet so hopefuly they'll find a vibe of their own in a bit. They're starting to show more tallent on the studio side of things from the last few I've heard. Gwan lads find your feet. I mean that sounds like a nice mashup of Joy O's Wade In with George FitzGerald's Feel Like. Which is kinda useful rather than essential. Plus they, like so many other 'post-dubstep' peeps go way over board with the vocal sample/chopping. It'd be way more fun/effective if they chose a moment for it rather than stretching it tediously over the whole track like everyone did in 09. Someone like Kingdom knows how it goes, he cut up a nice vocal on Let You Kno, just teased it until the drop midway then fucked off again. It gives you space to vibe to it. |
