What first got you into dance music and how have your tastes progressed along the way?
For me it was something like this: 1. Breaks (the crystal method were my intro to dance music courtesy of my older brother) 2. Big name acts (prodigy, chem borthers fat boy slim etc) 3 .Electro, justice influenced, ed banger what have you type beats 4. Minimal, and sounds like Booka and MANDY, Boratto 5. Techno - Popof, De crecy, Zombie Nation 6.Tribal or however you describe such acts on Sound pellegrino - zombie disco squad where a turning point for me :) Now I find myself mainly listening to deep smooth house (wolf and lamb, permanent vacation). Acts like tensnake, Jaar, soul clap, no regular play, lindstrom and prins etc etc I still listen to it all but I tend to go through phases of focusing most of my attention on a sound I' digging at the moment. I still happily enjoy a good song from any genre though Anyone else the same? |

1. Shit Music
2. Punk 3. Death From Above 1979 is my life now. 4. Romance, Bloody Romance and MSTRKRFT 5. The Bloody Beetroots, Justice and a few other MSTRKRFT assosciates. Daft Punk followed. 6. Properly into The Bloody Beetroots right now. Almost everything they played out was an influence. Harder stuff like Proxy, GTRONIC and Huoratron creeps in. 7. I think I joined the forum around this time... Resisted you at first. Boys Noize albums bought. 8. Whatever you guys think's good. EDIT: Not quite true, but this forum does influence me a lot. #BrodinskiUnofficialTwitterFanClub |

I'm very pleased that my first ever single was Flat Beat, which I still like to the day.

I used to listen to it all the time way back, but that was mostly because of the music video - so good I started out as a youngin listening to the chems (block rockin beats was on the matrix soundtrack was it not?) and daft punk, got into stuff like BBS and justice from out of nowhere in 08 as well as minimal, and in 09 I discovered sound pellegrino and after that I became less narrow minded about music. |

rough timeline of music I 'discovered'. still listen to most of it, of course:
1. late 90s Russian electronic stuff. don't recall any names, likely because they were largely shit; 2. Daft Punk, then Oizo; 3. Break period from electronic music, as I moved more towards indie; 3. LCD & DFA, house; Soulwax / 2manydjs, Erol. also went through LCD's 'Losing My Edge' and listened to as many bands mentioned (I realise that to do so was to largely miss the point of the song); 4. Electro largely through Boys Noize, Vitalic, reading about / listening to Erol's sets. Only started really listening to Justice in 2008, which brought about a few months of Ed B 'immersion' and subsequent 'fatigue'; 5. Minimal / ambient / experimental, krautrock / kosmische; Moroder & Goblin (and other 'old' electronic acts); 6. Disco - old / new, primarily through Lidstrom and Prins Thomas, Perm. Vac,, Indjut Boys, Terje and Erol's Disco 3000 mixes; non-maximalist techno; dubstep / 'post' dubstep - got into it through people like Burial and later Joy Orbison, James Blake. 7. like Skelefunk said (even though he was half joking!) stuff that is mentioned on here. Were it not for EAF and Resident Advisor, wouldn't be aware of an enormous amount of great music. |

1. Electro - Justice really started it and all.
2. Dubstep / Ambient / Electroniuca - Burial was really an eyeopener for me, and completely changed my outlook. 3. Tribal & Tech-House - Sound Pellegrino, Deadfish and so on. 4. Techno / Minimal - Tech-house really made this move, and moved me towards this direction, and im slowly discovering a lot of great stuff in this genre. A couple of years ago i couldn't see myself listening to minimal, but i think it takes a little time getting used to, but once you do it's really amazing. All about the details. Whats next? Post BlogHouse? |

1. 90s pop, used to be a big backstreet boys fan in the mid 90s.
2.horrible eurotrash dance, milk.inc, sylver, Belgians will know them 3.commercial hiphop, eminem, dre, dmx etc 4.classic rock for a good 3-4 years 5.commercial electrohouse when I started goin clubbin proper and found most contemporary bands boring, ministry of sound compilations then got into love parade compilations and started diggin deeper 6.introduced to d'n'b and dubstep when moving to the UK, so missed much of the 2006-2008 electro scene, delved into novelty fidget house a bit 7. tech-house--->techno 8. Deep house, slow techno and dubtechno/dubstep/electronica |

1. Garage as a kid. God knows where that came from because none of my siblings were in to garage :/
2. Bad 90's trace (I say bad but it's still soooooo good) 3. Massively got in to hip hop.. 4. Sort of started getting back in to electronic music, listening to Daft Punk & Oizo etc. Happened to buy Mixmag for the first time and it was Erols 2006 mix and it just carried on from there. I don't really listen to much music anymore :( |

IDM like Squarepusher, Boards of Canada and Venetian Snares. I just progressed into drum 'n' bass and then to fidget/electro from there.

1-since i was born in the 90's i was influenced with lots of hard house and dance music
2-huge mind gap,i cant remember anything from this time, but i kinda remember Gorillaz 3-Deadmau5 came into my life, discovered how much i hate dance music thanks to Guetta and little kids making the whole electronic scene look bad and stupid 4-after a lot of progressive house i heard about fake blood and fidget came into my life 5-started listening to indie music 6-somehow misreaded "The Bloody Beetroots" and confused them with The Bravery and heard their remix of Toxic Avenger, electro came into my life 7-joined the forum 8-keep listening to lots of electro and indie music but i have a more opened mind to other styles, like techno and other stuff i still hate guetta tho |

1) Bits of shite Tiesto and stuff that I never really liked.
2) Pendulum, and Digitalism and DJ Hype. 3) Erol Alkan Global Gathering 2007 podcast. Rinsed it for weeks. 4) Justice, MSTRKRFT, Boys Noize and Crookers etc. Started maniacally seeing any DJ that played in Dublin. Saw basically everyone. 5)Got into dutch house for about a month, then hated it afterwards, 6) Deadfish, Anabatic, etc. Lots of Camel. 7) Nu-disco. Now my favourite stuff is a mix of deeper Sound Pellegrino/Deadfish, nu-disco, and random electronica and non-130 stuff. "I focused on the dubstep and forgot the garage and funky. I swore UK garage sounds different....but I listen to a lot of hardcore." |

Style has been basically the same from then on till now which is basically "house" but anything made to play, deadfish, Sound Pellegrino, Dirtybird, etc, etc 6.) Last few months Ive started to get into some deeper stuff like Releases from Crosstown Rebels, Hot Creations, etc etc Its really funny sorting my iTunes by date adding and look at what i was listening to a year ago |

1 - 1990 - 2002 Top of the pops
2 - Roughly 2002 - 2005 Out of that I remember Linkin Park - Crawlin' hitting number one just as I got into Pop Punk - Limp Bizkit, Sum 41, Offspring, Blink 182, American Hi-Fi, System Of a Down, Papa Roach - I miss it a little. 2 - 2002 - 2006 - listened to dance music of all sorts - only really had shit tracks like Sandstorm, Milk etc. on my computer but actually listened to lots of relatively allright online radio- stations. 3. 2004/5 Indie - Libertines/Strokes/Whitestripes era was the start but stayed with it till about 2007. 4. But by summer 2006 I was obsessed with Justice vs Simian - We Are Your Friends - Learnt to DJ and went from there. 5. 2006/7Cue mass obsession with music covering huge amounts of genres from early dubstep - i remember hearing Benga's first album by accident - electro - house - techno. From there it has only really been minor developments - nearly every existing genre was maintained but I added World Music and Disco in 2008 and 2-step in late 2009. Every genre has room for intrigue and plus it's not really about the genres in the first place. 1. Shit music through my early youth
2. Indie stuff i got into through Modular compilations (Yeah Yeah Yeahs, The Gossip, Ali love, Klaxons, New Young Pony Club, that kind of thing) 3. Bang Gang Deejays compilation LSD, which is where i heard Phantom - then the Justice phase began 4. Justice, Boys Noize, SebastiAn, Oizo also a small phase of loving every shitty blog styled electro track. 5. Back to Indie stuff, (Late of the Pier, Friendly Fires etc) 6. Discovered Aeroplane, Gloves etc started getting into disco 7. At the moment my taste is pretty much all of the above, though i find myself mostly listening to Indie stuff, (The Dead Weather, Klaxons, New Young Pony Club, Late Of the Pier)... But mostly playing out Disco stuff. Yeah... This was alot harder than i thought it would be when i started it, even now i'm not really sure how accurate this list is.
