Watched the first one and half of the second one, really like it, i was a tad sceptical of the main character not being American but gotten used to it now.

Really enjoyed the first 2 eps. Everything is high quality except the writing / acting of that one character, the one who says "Welcome to the Big City" when they're on the roof.

Also who is the actor who was chained to the pipe? Recognise him from somewhere.

Its also quite good that the Zombies are quite fast at running, i dont know if that makes a difference to anyone else or not.

Decided to watch this as a few people have been going on about it, and I've not been disappointed. I thought the first episode was formulaic, but still executed really well. The whole thing has Darabont all over it.

If anybody is wanting to keep everything a surprise, then I wouldn't go onto the IMDb page, as it lists all of the characters as being in (x Episodes), and knowing how many there are, you can anticipate who'll die when. That said...

I think that's fair warning? So, speculation on what happened to Merle? Personally I think he'll have climbed down from the roof, got the bag of guns from behind the tank, got in touch with the black dude from the first episode and his kid via the walkie talkie, and will turn up in episode 4/5 with a grudge.

how would he get down though ? and i dont get why he did what he did to get away. WTF ? ruined the whole ep for me even. infact it wasnt a very good one

The building has ladders on the side, he could have used one of those. And I don't think the hacksaw would have been strong enough to cut through police-grade handcuffs, so his options were sit and wait for the walkers to get onto the roof and eat him alive, or sacrifice a hand and escape, knowing that there was a lot of guns and ammunition on the street.

I agree though, the third episode wasn't as enjoyable as the second, but I don't think it was through bad writing, it's just the characters showing their less likeable traits (Turning on each other, hitting women, the resulting lack of restraint when Shane witnesses it, reluctance to lend tools, Lori being an absolute cow etc)

when they went back why didnt they use that good old cover ourselfs in shit technique that worked for them before the rain?

It won't because the comic hasn't yet. I know they are doing some things differently in the show, but they wouldn't pull some bs like that.

To be fair he only used that once for the end of the episode. And so far the music's been fantastic aside from that blatant ripoff.

Bear McCreary's the best composer working on TV right now. His soundtrack for BSG was godly.
