Anyone who isnt going to The Other Rooms for MIA, Sinden and Buraka(who has a clear option andy) needs a serious talking to :-)

Oh yeah if it was 6 years ago id have been all over this like a 3rd year sex starved student repeating his second year due to an excessive desire for birds n booze n all things funk. (Sundays long gone at Stereo, how I miss that atmosphere)

it was supposed to be at Digital but its now in Other Rooms. says on my ticket doors are at 7. Sinden and Baraka som Sistema (or whatever theyre called) are on before so im guessing she'll start at 8.30/9.

up against kiss da funk at arena apperently, so think might not be as busy as should be.

MIA was totally great. Her entrance through the mass crowd was fairly surreal. Buraka SS were just total ghetto rave from start to finish. She even said we had the best crowd on the whole tour.

After party was only invented the day before so nobody hung around long enought to find out how banging Geoff Leopard was gonna go, the little time he did play it was really good. I strongly recommend anyone in the north to go to the next Black magik at the other rooms, will probably be FEB.

good point , thats one of the rare times ive had a shit time in empire. and it was still an alreeet night

the other bad times where a hell of alot worse thats for sure

theyve got some good shit on early next year , would love to know what happened to the thursday indie night though , went from having SMD live on, to completely been replaced by a disco night in only 4 monthsish

Doesn't look like they are. TBH they are different nights so I don't think a clash is too bad, but its part of Digitals new Friday schedule. Evolve has moved to the same night as junior g at Cosmic, so junior g have packed up shop and left Newcastle. Hard House certainly isn't my thing, but I don't know why Digital are trying to set it up so that their night is the only minimal/d&b/hard house night in town. It will kill the scene dead. People can't get into a kind of music if only 1 night exists. Seems a bit mad to me. Its not like Cosmic Ballroom are causing issues for Digital, its a quarter of the size! It may all backfire on Digital and reduce what is currently a very good dance scene in the toon. Best i've know for years anyway

All I know is I dont like minimal so Habit wouldnt even come under my radar, Im actually surprised that so many people had fun at Middleton considering he doesnt play minimal/techy

I think its a bit of a myth that Habit is a minimal night. Ok they have had some minimal DJ's on, but the likes of James Holden, Audiojack & Middleton have played there. Simon Baker played earlier this year and was brilliant, and thats more Tech House. Desyn Masiello & Luke Fair are more house than minimal. Its just a great "house" night without the big name DJ's. King Unique played one of their first gigs back together for Habit, Nathan Fake & Jonathan Lisle are also past headliners

I don't think they did tbh. His set earlier this year had loads of people praising him, but the people who went last week that I knew, were left rather cold

Fair enough. It was my 1st time in so I dont know how crazy it gets. It wasnt exactly my normal cup of tea but i remember him getting a lor of people going with some old french touch house.

Anything progressive, tech house and minimal just wouldnt get me near it. Even shindig is a tad dull for me these days. Dont know how long Switch has to play or what he is gonna do at Shindig but I think Ill try go.

Nice seems to be more my cup of tea at Cosmic
