Generally, longboards are used for cruising around on due to their longer/wider trucks and bigger wheels meaning stability at high speeds, whereas skateboards, due to their shape, can also be used for aerial tricks etc, but usually aren't as stable at higher speeds as longboards. (I reckon that's the gist of it anyway)
I can't skate much these days since I broke my ankle a few years ago. Finally tried longboarding for the first time last summer and I loved it. Personally, I reckon it must be quite tough hobby to have in the U.K due to the weather and the amount of potholes etc on the streets, as opposed to other countries with dry climates and smoother road surfaces. Oh how I wish I was Aussie! |
