To be fair, from the other shorter clips, if I was in my early 20's I'd have lapped this up. Smashed, hands in the air, etc.

But, I was quite ignorant/unrefined in my tastes back then.

Why's it sad/tragi-comic, other than tune choice (snobbery on my part here)?

Well, it's sad/tragi-comic that he's is performing for a huge crowd and is pretending that he's mixing while he's not. It also looks like he doesn't care at all, throws his hands in the air now and then but he just looks drunk and bored.

im assuming its this clip, linked on the RA feed, of Angellos headphoneless mixing skills, or wankin about with fx while a prerecorded cd plays, depending on who you believe.

From watching that clip, I can't believe that it's a prerecorded cd. Who in their right mind would spend time prerecording a mix that bad. He just rescues the first mistake when he bumps one of the cdjs but from then on in it's as if he's not even trying.

Every DJ can have their off night. Not all of them will command the fee he does though.
