haha, I just looked up Higher Ground on youtube to remember what it sounds like and hearing the beginning instantly brought back memories of the Power Rangers Movie, which I just wikipedia'd and confirmed it was on the soundtrack of.
Really weird how a snippet of a song can bring back old obscure memories you didn't think you had anymore.

I totally agree with you, new direction with some frusciante-esque licks sometimes though, but that's not a bad thing, that's a great album!

really liking some of the tracks, others not so much, the single is one of the worst tracks, annie wants a baby is one of the best.

they've been saying since stadium arcadium that their next album was to be a throw back to their 90's stuff.
not hearing it at all.

i think they have been pretty patchy since BSSM which is possibly my favourite album of all time.... Stadium Arcadium made me want to cry and throw it out of the window especially when flea was quoted as saying 'if you dont like this album you dont like the red hot chili peppers' i counted 2 half decent songs on it!
they are a bit middle of the road nowdays, I would prefer them to come out with something pretty heavy like mothers milk or even one hot minute to show they still have some balls... or something funky and experimental with less bad singing from keidis. can i even be arsed to listen to this new effort?

i love how the label knows that 90% of rhcp fans are too dumb to recognize they have a new album so they plastered the cover with the sticker
"RED HOT CHILLI PEPPERS NEW ALBUM"

you cant expect it to be remotely close to Blood sugar, seeing as frusciante has gone and they have a new guitarist... take it all into context and realise that they were obviously, intentionally going for a new sound. as much as i loved their sound that famously gave them an uprising and general famous stature, the sound that i grew up with... good things dont last forever. i like their new album, its grown on me. and stadium arcadium was fucking amazing, how you could only find 2 songs that you liked is beyond me.. dunno just my honest opinion.

it's completely pointless to try and sound heavy or like they used to sound if that's just not them any more, this album may well be pants i don't know, i'll probably never listen to it, but if that's where they're at in their lives and this is an honest representation of them then fair play

incubus tried to go back to heavier stuff after their yawnathon that was 'morning view' got panned and it was so forced and obvious, it just stank

idlewild, however, matured and weren't afraid to let the music do the same, i was pretty annoyed when they deserted their earlier, punky art-rock sound but it was the right move

you can't expect middle aged guys with kids, wives and mansions to be harping on about the same angsty problems and playing gigs high as a kite but then you don't have to religiously follow the band either

I fail to understand this bizarre obsession people have with these bands from the 80’s. Now all 4 ‘chili peppers’, Irons, Flea, Kiedis and Slovak are not really those whom I would pay anything to watch them perform, say unlike Mettalica where the frenzy knows no bounds! But to concede, I have become a fan of some of their releases like Freaky Styley, Blood Sugar Sex Magik and Californification. Hope their latest does the same and helps them with a dashing comeback. Good Luck to them!
It's Great.......................

I think that if they had used a bit more quality contol and put the best 14 tracks onto one disc it would have been an amazing album... but too much filler really.

I've only just listened to the new album for the first time. It's a bit... beige. I am disappoint.

I really dig Brendan's Death Song, though. Unexpected.

That's silly. SCIENCE and Make Yourself are widely regarded as their 1 and 2.
