I went to this yesterday and their new show really is not very different from their old live show bar the addition of some new lights.

Basically their signature Marshall amp set up is decked out with lights and they have a kind of curtain of lights which surround back and sides which sync with the music.

I must say I was a little disappointed. I was hoping it was going to either involves live instruments and/or at least some kind of light show to rival the chemical brothers, etienne de crecy, plastikman and everyone else who has stepped up in that department.

The music involved lots or mashing tracks together (especially old with new) and of course new edits of all the old songs. A lot of the new tracks were made more dance/festival friendly as well. Oh and what seemed like a 15 minute extended extended version of Audio, Video, Disco to close with. No encore either even given the deafening roaring chant of 'encore' for minutes.

All up it was good but I was left underwhelmed . So to everyone planning to see them dont get your hopes up too much.

Videos are starting to pop up. Here is one which given an example of old and new mashup.

And yet this is somehow a lukewarm review? Sounds picture-perfect to me.

Well like I said, my expectations were mainly aimed at some kind of new show. But to me at least it felt just like their old live show with the exception of some new lights and slipping the new tracks in their, which are not really my cup of tea.

But hey, if you haven't seen their old live show I have no doubt you will love seeing them. Having already seen their old live show though, this new version was much the same as their old one.

I still stand by that it was good but not great. They have a way to go yet before they can stand beside other said acts I have already mentioned.

i was there yesterday and i thought the new show was terrific. the way they beefed up their new tracks and blended them in with the old stuff was perfect. and gaspard getting on the piano was wicked (even if it was brief)
much to look forward to if you're seeing them soon!!!

I've never seen their old live show so this sounds just perfect for me.

I have to get tickets for Amsterdam or hope they will also tour around here in the Summer...

Sounds great to me. At least they go through the effort of making mash ups/live edits etc to make their show worth attending

Damn it. I couldn't get accommodation for Field Day and I think I just passed up my last chance to see them at Festival Hall in Melbourne on the 6th. I knew I'd regret this so fucking bad.

Ugh.

I thought it was really good. 10 x better than the set they played last year.

Don't really know how much to watch - it's likely they'll do the same set at each gig really, isn't it? I don't think I want to spoil it for myself, but at the same time I'm incredibly excited and want to watch it all right now...

I really hope they still do Phantom Pt. II with the same epic buildup from A Cross the Universe, I loved that.

Bought tickets for the Manchester show after watching the first video of this playlist - I thought it would take a lot more persuasion than that but I was totally sold on the Audio Video Disco build up. Magnificent, can't wait.

If you sold on the build up you will absolutely love it. I wasn't exaggerating when i said they played a ridiculously long extended version of it :)
