You should really go see The Weeknd. And At The Drive In. And araabMuzik. In fact there is some great stuff there, I'm immensely jealous.

The rock and hip hop side of this year's line up is insane, the dance side is largely abysmal.

I've been saving money for a long time now so I figured I might as well get myself a treat, especially being 2012 and all, I mean, who knows what's going to happen, if anything.
the dance part is really not that great, even though it's got justice and sebastiAn, whose live sets I've always wanted to see since I never got to see them during that whole Ed Banger heyday, so I could only fantasize about what it must've been like. so I guess I'll be able to cross that from my list. apart from that the line up is amazing, I had to make a list to make sure I'm not insane for breaking all that bread 1) would give a limb to see, individually / need so see before I die refused radiohead at the drive-in justice (like I said, still an ed banger fan-boy) sebastiAn dr. dre & snoop dogg explosions in the sky godspeed you! black emperor modeselektor 2) would really like to see dj shadow florence and the machine sbtrkt flying lotus a$ap rocky the black keys arctic monkeys m83 amon tobin frank ocean wu lyf beirut thunder cat kendrick lamar 3) would like to check out metronomy araabMUSIK santigold the weeknd the rapture breakbot la riots feist firehouse buzzcocks childish gambino girl talk |

I'll be going as usual. The band lineup is amazing. The electronic, as has been mentioned, not so much...but I'll finally get to see Justice. And I'm always down for some FlyLo.

I don't understand the ticket/line up situation. Is every band playing twice on 2 different weekends or is half the lineup one weekend and half on the other, in which case, how do you know who you're buying tickets to see?

It's the exact same weekend, twice. It was way overcrowded last year and this is how they are aiming to solve it. New Jacques Collaborative Texas |

If I understand correctly, on the 13th all that will be available is GA + shuttle passes, which are a little more expensive (as well as some of the extravagant VIP packages). I noticed there is a registration system now--maybe they are doing more to prevent scalping this time around, as it was a huge problem last year. New Jacques Collaborative Texas |

ok, now, this is a serious question for those who've been to the past editions and/or are going this year: what are your accommodation plans?
is the camping as awful as I've been reading about? any recommendations on hotels? |

last year i stayed in the Lake El Dorado section, which is the area where they supply you with a decent size tent, esky/ice box, chairs etc. i'm not sure if there would be any left, camping on the other ground with all your own stuff was horrible. we had friends doing that, we went and took a visit & it was like trying to cram as many people as they possibly could into one field.
as far as accommodation goes, i'm not an expert but from memory there isn't much within a good distance of the polo club. you'd more than likely have to drive to and from if you want a hotel. When life gives you lemons, make Techno. ∞ Forever Mehdi |

I'll get to your PM when I have more time OP but I will say here and now that I really love car camping. The campgrounds are always a huge party, especially on the final night. And the first year I went, when they had that Pure Filth tent up (I think it's going up again), Flying Lotus was playing. In the campgrounds.
