awesome, any tech heads got the specs on the gear? two customer built midi controllers each, a mixer, amp and a compressor?
Offline
the midi controller on the far left in the 2nd picture looks suspiciously like a BCR2000, could be wrong though

dp using Behringer! well i never!

they reckon on the frenchtouch forum that that pic was took in the middles of setting up ,with the laptops etc to be added

the wooden boxes are Moog Voyagers Rack Mount Edition... 4 of them! Meaning that there is actually synthesis happening within the pyramid, not just triggering samples with ableton! DP play more live than i gave them credit for! Theres no keyboards around so i guess its safe to assume that they are running midi sequences from the laptops through them...

Well spotted J.A.M.E.S. That suggests real analog synthesis is going on. That makes me very happy, as it puts a whole new spin on what I had just presumed was purely computer generated sound. Of course they could just be using them to process an external audio signal (ie. using the filters etc.) but still... Daft Punk on Moog and Behringer, brilliant!

So is that their laptop in the middle that'll have ableton on?
Either laptops, monitors or a couple of Jazzmutant Lemur touchscreen interfaces, which they're down on Jazzmutant's site as using.

I would love to kow more about their stage setup. By far the sickest setup ever. I saw the coachella gig and just caught them in SEATTLE. Very similar setlist but i still cant get over their stage how. AAnyhoot cheers and here is the torrent link to the coachella DVD. I was a part of this project. Very grassroots lots of fun..

If you buy the August issue of Mixmag they have a two page spread showing the inside of the pyramid in detail with TB explaining all the kit
The free CD this month is a mix by Digitalism too ![]()

1. ABLETON
"The show revolves around Ableton Live software on custom made super-computers, which we remotely access and control with Behringer BCR2000 midi controllers."
2. SCREENS
"Next to the ethernet remote computer screens there are four Minimoog Voyagers, the classic analog synthesizers. They're a 30-year old design."
3. MOOGS
"We can mix, shuffle, trigger loops, filter, distort samples, EQ in and out, transpose or destroy and deconstruct synth lines. We keep some surprises on the side too!"
4. VISUALS
"There's a direct connection between our rig and the lights and visuals of the show. The light and video engineers can also add or control layers during the show."
5. SYNTHS
"Inside the pyramid are synthesizers and remote controls connected to the rest of the music equipment and computers, which are in rack-mounted towers off stage."
6. TEAMWORK
"Working the music equipment, lighting and video equipment, and building the pyramid for each show takes around 10 people, including both of us."![]()

Think the outrageous amount of views might be because it's the second link when you search 'Erol Alkan' on Google.
